Welcome to another episode of "The Date Your Wife Podcast." On this week's episode, we're talking about accepting your calling.
The hardest thing with anything is to start because you feel unqualified, but to become qualified, you have to put in the work.
I'm a hairstylist by trade and never thought I would reach the level of success I have today with this skill. Twelve years ago, my husband and I lost everything. At the time, I looked at hair styling as a hobby, but the reality is my husband was not providing, and I had to use the trade that I had to provide for my family. That year, I created my first homestudy course, something that is very common in all industries now. Twelve years ago, nobody was doing it, especially not a hairstylist. Who did I think I was? I had so many doubts and limiting beliefs, but I had two children at the time and felt like I didn't have another choice. At the time, I didn't even have any money to pay somebody to help put it together. My husband filmed the Homestead course at my salon, and I Googled and YouTubed how to put everything together. I did the best I could with the resources I had; it wasn't perfect. If anything was really crappy, I felt like it didn't reflect who I was as an artist or did it, and I wasn't quite ahead of the game as I thought I was. It's so hard to get out of your ego. It's so hard to see the person you could become but accept the person you are right now, but with hard work and diligence, you can get there.
If you're struggling with purpose, the first step is to look at what skills you have in front of you. What are you passionate about? Share your passions, and along the way, you will impact others. If I hadn't started as a hairstylist, the woman you see today wouldn't be possible.
I've now had an impact on thousands of hairstylists. I started a movement with hand-tied hair extensions and, through sharing my passion, have helped other artists create income for themselves and their families.
You must be willing to start, remembering in the beginning, you feel unqualified, but you cannot become qualified without putting in the work, except that nothing is perfect, trial, and error is what contributes to growth and expansion.
